ASSESSMENT

A comprehensive speech / language / literacy assessment is essential to start the therapy process. Not only does it identify a child’s difficulties, but it also highlights his or her abilities, strengths and specific needs.

Assessment findings allow us to decide if speech therapy sessions are needed. It also helps in the construction of a tailor-made therapy plan to address each child’s specific needs.

THERAPY SESSIONS

Once the assessment is completed, the patient, his or her family and the therapist agree on a therapy process.

Most of the time, sessions take place at the office. Based on the child’s specific needs, our work methods may vary: sessions can sometimes be held at school, with or without the parents, or even remotely.

TELEPRACTICE

Telepractice can be an effective alternative to face-to-face sessions. Its main appeal is for expat families living far from therapists providing care in their mother tongue.

Evaluation and therapy models are different in telehealth than in face-to-face therapy. Therefore, the patient’s specific needs will need to be discussed to see how they can be addressed through telepractice.
